Last weekend we visited one of the coolest mountains in the Appalachians: Old Rag mountain in Shenandoah National Park. We camped in the forest, close to a small river that provided us with fresh water. It was great to hear the sounds of the nature during the night.

Camping on the base of Old Rag

In the evening we were lucky to see a bear puppy and a couple of deer crossing the river.

Our tent is a Half Dome that we use all year round. It's both light and easy to set.

Climbing Old Rag

Sunday morning we climbed to the summit. It took us 1,5 hours to hike the 3,5 mile trail.

Views at the top are amazing, especially during summer with all those green colors.

The mountain features huge granite boulders at the top, shaped by water and wind.

While hiking we found a wide variety of wild mushrooms…

… and other interesting creatures like this butterfly in its inception.

In the afternoon we hiked down to the campsite and relaxed at the hammock.

We already visited this place during fall, winter and spring, and it was lovely too. Impressive how season here are remarkable. Go outdoors to check it!

What we did last weekend? We had fun in nature!
