Last weekend we visited this area to celebrate Mon’s 30th birthday hiking, climbing and enjoying the fall colors in the mountains 🙂 It’s a place you should visit at least once if you live in the East and like to climb and hike. There are hundreds of climbing routes to be explored, both trad and sport, as well as great hikes to natural arches and great overlooks.
We stayed at a big campsite in the forest close to Copperas Creek, less than a mile away from the Red River and parking lot. It’s a secluded place to camp, ideal if you want to avoid crowds. And there is a small trail that brings you from the campsite to Snow Arch, a small but pretty arch on top of a ridge line with great views of the forest.
